The Coupeville High School soccer team sparkled on both ends of the field in an 8-0 drubbing of visiting Forks Saturday, Sept. 12.

Three different Wolves scored their first high-school goals.

The trio was led by Arisbeth Montiel, who tallied twice, including a 35-yarder. Captain Bree Daigneault and Ashley Smith also hit the back of the net for the first time.

Daigneault’s score came off a corner kick by Jennifer Spark.

“I was very happy for a young lady that has really worked hard and put in the time and work and deserves every good thing that comes her way,” coach Troy Cowan said in regard to Daigneault’s shot.

Cowan said Smith “always plays hard and gives 100 percent.”

“When I put in Ashley, I tell her go out there and make something happen,” Cowan said. “Well, today she did.”

The Wolves produced plenty of other offensive highlights.

Mia Littlejohn scored twice; Spark scored a goal and added two assists; Kalia Littlejohn registered a goal and assist; and Sage Renninger, Taichen Rose and May Rose each assisted on goals.

The Wolves took the pedal of the gas early in the second half and worked on ball control, spacing and communication, Cowan said.

While the offense was piling up the points, the defense posted a shutout. Cowan praised the play of Spark, Lauren Bayne, Lindsey Roberts, Taichen Rose, Lauren Grove, Sophie Sandahl and Ema Rae Smith.

“These girls are the backbone of our team and I put a huge amount of pressure on them,” Cowan said. “They are responsible for so much on our team, and today they responded well.”

Coupeville (1-1-1) goes to Bellevue Christian at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15.
