Cornet Bay – History could preserve road

Letter writer Dundee’s remarks dated Sept. 17 ring true in a lot of ways, more so with the highlighting that closing that part of Cornet Bay Road would create a very dangerous hazard with large boats being pulled by vehicles, now having to try and make the hairpin turn at the traffic light, which would back-up traffic even more than it is now. Of course this would result in a fire or emergency vehicle trying to navigate through the log jam of traffic to get to an emergency in the Cornet Bay community. Oh yeah, a lot of planning went into this so-called “road improvement.”

My suggestion for the access road to the Cornet Bay area: Declare the road a historical road, as it is part of the original road traveling down Whidbey Island when the ferry from Fidalgo Island to Whidbey Island was the only northern access to Whidbey before the Deception pass bridge was built.
