Consider naming charity in your will | Letter

Harry Anderson’s column hit the nail on the head. Whidbey Island would be a much less livable community without the hundreds of nonprofit organizations that address the various needs of our community. We have organizations that attend to the issue of homelessness, both human and animal, the needs of seniors and youth, our history, our beaches, our open spaces and a hundred other worthy causes.

Editor,

Harry Anderson’s column hit the nail on the head. Whidbey Island would be a much less livable community without the hundreds of nonprofit organizations that address the various needs of our community. We have organizations that attend to the issue of homelessness, both human and animal, the needs of seniors and youth, our history, our beaches, our open spaces and a hundred other worthy causes.

He wonders how we can continue to afford to support these organizations with our limited population, and I concur. One suggestion I would make is to encourage citizens to include their favorite charities in their wills so that these organizations can carry on their work after you are gone. Show your support for Whidbey Island and help to assure that the “Rock” remains viable!
