Community: Navy men to the rescue

While returning to Canada on Sunday afternoon in their camper/van, retired friends of ours had a tire blow out north of Coupeville. Shortly afterwards a fellow assigned to Whidbey Island Naval Air Station stopped to assist. We didn’t have a suitable jack to change the tire but shortly afterwards yet another NAS vehicle stopped. The two young men had a floor jack and promptly helped get the spare tire installed.

The vehicle they drove was an ‘89 Chev pickup with an amber light on top. Unfortunately we didn’t get their names but they were assigned to NOPF at NAS Whidbey. This random act of kindness by these men was very much appreciated and while they refused to accept anything for their help, we commend them for their willingness to help. They made us proud to have the Navy nearby, thank you whoever you were.
