A 23-year-old Oak Harbor man was recently ended up in prison for selling cocaine to an undercover agent and a confidential police informant.

Joshua Walker pleaded guilty in Island County Superior Court Aug. 5 to possession of cocaine.

Judge Vickie Churchill went along with a plea bargain worked out between the prosecution and Walker’s attorney. She sentenced him to a year and a day in prison and ordered him to pay $3,227 in fines and fees.

According to a report by Sgt. Tim Sterkel, Oak Harbor Police Department’s drug enforcement officer, police arrested Walker during a large investigation of a small cocaine-trafficking ring in the city.

Walker sold cocaine to a paid confidential informant and a couple of different undercover special agents with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service a number of times between May 20 and Nov. 1, 2003, Sterkel wrote.

On one occasion, an undercover agent purchased $180 worth of cocaine from Walker at City Beach Park. Another time, an agent bought cocaine from him at the Madrona Manor apartment, court records show.
