The Central Whidbey 11/12 baseball team came from behind to defeat South Skagit 10-4 Monday, July 2, in the District 11 Tournament in Sedro-Woolley.

At the 9/10 baseball tournament in Langley Monday, North Whidbey was blanked 10-0 by South Whidbey and Central Whidbey lost 13-6 to Anacortes in loser-out games.

In 10/11 baseball action, North Whidbey lost to Sedro-Woolley 8-3 at Windjammer Park.

 

11/12 Baseball

Central Whidbey surrendered four runs in the first inning then came back for its big win over South Skagit.

Julian Welling entered in relief and allowed only one base runner and struck out seven over three innings, according to coach Bob Brown.

Jered Brown put down South Skagit in order in the sixth.

The Central Whidbey offense, which over took South Skagit in the third inning, was led by Jake Pease and Joey Lippo who each went 2-for-3 with a double. Nick Etzell also doubled.

Central Whidbey plays South Whidbey at 6 p.m. tonight, July 2, in Sedro-Woolley.

North Whidbey’s 11/12 team received a bye Monday and meets host Sedro-Woolley at 6 p.m. tonight. Sedro-Woolley defeated Anacortes 11-1 Monday.

 

9/10 Baseball

In North Whidbey’s game with South Whidbey, Trevor Adams and Cody Byars each hit hard shots, according to coach Phil Byars.

North Whidbey used four pitchers, and Gage McLeod “pitched the best,” Byars said.

Central Whidbey coach Derik Vrable cited strong play by outfielders Matt Kelley, Drake Borden and Cody Roberts in the Anacortes game.

Caleb Meyer and Earl LaPoole each recorded double plays, and Meyer led the hitters with a triple.
