Oak Harbor’s “Dream Season” is still alive. The 9-1 Wildcats are heading to the state playoffs for the first time since 1982 following their 35-14 win over Kamiak Tuesday night.

If the Wildcats had any playoff jitters it did not show. After stopping the Knights on their opening possession, Oak Harbor benefited from a short punt and started their first drive at the Kamiak 43 yard line. Two plays later Grant Bull broke off a 40-yard run to the end zone. Chad Asmus made it 7-0 with his point after kick.

Cody Parker came up with the Cats’ second turnover of the first quarter, this one a fumble recovery that set Oak Harbor up at the Kamiak 26 yard line. On a gutsy fourth down play quarterback Lenny Serfling had his pass attempt tipped, but Bull adjusted and made the catch for a 10 yard score. The PAT gave the Cats a 14-0 lead.

Parker made it 21-0 when he returned a pass interception 52 yards with 3:15 remaining in the first half.

Kamiak got on the board with just 30 seconds left before intermission for a 21-7 score at the half.

A 29-yard run off a fake punt set up the Knights with a first down at the Oak Harbor 12. Gary Rogers hit Levon Rector for a 12-yard touchdown and the Cats’ lead was 21-14.

Oak Harbor put it away with a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns with Serfling hitting Kyle Veach on a 30 yard scoring play and the final six points on a 48 yard Bull interception return with just 11 seconds to play.

Oak Harbor will “host” the winner of the Puyallup-Mountain View (Vancouver) game Saturday with the site still to be determined.
