Canadian group celebrates their country in song

The Tiller's Folly will bring a taste of Canada to Coupeville

“The Tiller’s Folly will bring a taste of Canada to Coupeville on Thursday, Nov. 16, in a concert presented by Concerts on the Cove. The energetic Western Canadian group is described as a cross between Stan Rodgers and The Clancy Brothers. Mixing new and old styles, Tiller’s Folly celebrates British Columbia’s unique and dramatic history through song. Rich and colorful tales of the history of Canada’s West Coast, are woven into fresh and lively Celtic compositions. Led by vocalist and songwriter Bruce Coughlin, the Tiller’s Folly, has a sound that is distinctly Celtic, but is also progressive in its range and complexity. The bandsmen, Laurence Knight, Victor Smith, Mike Sanyshyn and Craig McGregor are all vocalists, and play a large variety of instruments including electric and acoustic guitars, Irish flutes, penny whistles, mandolins, fiddles, percussion and the accordion. Two world-class Irish dancers will join the band in the performance, with styles that range from slip jigs to quick and rhythmic treble reels, the hard shoe thunder popularized by Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.
