To earn her accreditation, Hertling received hands-on instruction and was required to demonstrate techniques by staging a home that listed on the market.

Here’s a tip

on a grant

Grant application forms for nonprofit groups are now available from Kapaw’s Iskreme in Coupeville. Each year the owners award grants to local groups equal to the amount of tips earned by the ice cream shop staff.

At the beginning of the summer season, staff members choose the recipients of the “tip match” donation grants. Last year grants totaling $2,200 went to Special Olympics of Whidbey Island, the Co-op Preschool, and Gifts from the Heart Food Bank.

Pick up grant applications at Kapaw’s Iskreme, 21 Front Street, Coupeville, or download from www.kapaws.com. Applications must be returned by May 15.
