After winning a football state championship and a cheerleading national championship, what’s next for Oak Harbor High School?
Students may not be going to Disneyland, but the school’s address could change to something that embodies more school spirit.
The Oak Harbor City Council will consider a measure Tuesday to change the school’s address, which is currently 950 NW 2nd St., and definitely lacking in school spirit.
The proposed name: 1 Wildcat Way.
“It’s kind of fun to let people know we’re number one,” said Jill Johnson, chamber of commerce director who was tasked by the Oak Harbor School District to see about changing the school’s address.
She added the address change won’t affect any of the addresses of the neighboring homes as it only covers the bus lane in front of the school.
The Oak Harbor School Board proposed the concept last year and Johnson has been working with the city to meet the requirements for the address change.
The proposed address change will come up during the Tuesday, March 20 Oak Harbor City Council meeting, beginning at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 865 SE Barrington Dr.
