Eight top-five finishes by Lindsay Brown highlighted the efforts of the six North Whidbey Aquatic Club members who took part in the Mark Prothero Invitational July 7-10 in Federal Way.

Brown, 10, posted the Blue Heron’s lone victory, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:38.13, third-best time in NWAC history.

Brown, who was named NWAC Swimmer of the Meet by coach Dick Taylor, took second in the 100 backstroke (1:25.94) and 400 freestyle (5:39.63); third in the 200 individual medley (2:57.26), 200 free (2:46.64) and 100 butterfly (1:24.91); fourth in the 50 back (39.62); and fifth in the 50 breast (48.22).

Overall, she scored a team-high 99 points in the meet.

Lecya Santiago, 11, and Hailey Borja, 9, received NWAC’s Fast Swim of the Meet Award.

Santiago clocked several Pacific Northwest Swimming long course championship qualifying times, and Borja trimmed 2.52 seconds off her previous top time in the 50 free with a 34.01, good for fifth place.

Robin Zemlo, 11, set personal records in all five of her swims and was named NWAC’s Most Improved Swimmer of the Meet.

Jillian Pape, 16, also competed, setting four PRs.

The meet was the final tuneup before the Long Course Championship meets.
