Nathan Richardson, a student at Broad View Elementary School, recently donated 13-inches of hair to the Locks of Love program.

Locks of Love uses these donations to make high quality hair prosthetics for children in the U.S. and Canada, that suffer from long-term hair loss due to medical conditions.

In October 2007, Nathan’s grandmother asked him if he was growing his hair for Locks of Love, since it was down to his collar, Shelley Richardson, Nathan’s mother, said.

His grandmother explained the program to him and Nathan announced he would grow it out. He let it grow for four-and-a-half years.

On June 16, in front of teacher Lynn Brown’s class at Broad View Elementary, Nathan received the official haircut for Locks of Love by NEX beautician Devon Daniels.
