Island County voters should have received their ballots this week.

The Island County Auditor’s Office brought 44,456 ballots for the Nov. 3 general election to the post office Oct. 13.

Voters who mail back the ballots must make sure they are postmarked no later than election day, Nov. 3, to be counted.

The ballot is populated largely by contests for local seats, but voters will have to consider a couple measure of statewide significance. Tim Eyman’s Initiative 1033 would limit growth in certain state, county and city revenues to the rate of inflation and population growth. Referendum 71 would expand the rights of same-sex and senior domestic partners to be equivalent to those of married spouses.

In addition, voters in Island and Snohomish counties will vote on a proposal to increase Sno-Isle Library’s levy to 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, up 9 cents from the existing levy.
