Auction planned to help save history in Coupeville

Help celebrate 60 years of Island County History at a Birthday Bash & Auction Saturday, July 25. This admission free fundraising event is open to the public and will begin at 1 p.m. on the Coupeville Community Green on Alexander Street.

The Historical Museum has partnered with the Coupeville Farmers Market so come early, explore the market, and know that the hot food vendors will stick around to feed you.

Registration for the auction begins at 1:30 p.m. with the silent auction running from 2 to 3 p.m. The live auction, conducted by auctioneer extraordinaire Dale Sherman, will run from 3 to 4 p.m. All proceeds will go to the Island County Historical Museum to continue daily operations.

In addition the museum will be selling memberships, memorial bricks, gift shop items and hotdogs. There will also be a special kids’ tent with face painting, crafts, fun and games. Kids of all ages are encouraged to dress in pioneer attire for an impromptu costume contest with prizes for the winners.

To make it more fun, consider donating an item for auction. Donation will be accepted from July 1 through July 18. If your donations are too large to drop off at the museum, call 678-3310 to arrange pick-up. Donations should have a value of at least $40.

“We are looking for unique, unusual, fun and fabulous items, so look around your home, garage or barn to locate those special treasures,” said organizer Jackie Feusier. “If not an item, consider offering a service or experience for auction. And, of course, cash donations will also be cheerfully accepted.” Regardless, your donation is tax deductable and you will receive a receipt and our heartfelt thanks shortly after the auction.

Call Feusier at 678-5124 or the museum at 678-3310 for further information.
