The North Whidbey Aquatic Club Aquajets won the 14-team Bellingham Challenge Swim Meet Oct. 22-23 in Bellingham, scoring 1322 points to beat out Bellingham Bay (1264), and the Stingray Swimming of Snohomish (1160).

Leading the way for the Aquajets were Cole Weinstein and Laura Rosen, high-point award winners in the 10-and-under boys and girls divisions respectively.

Weinstein, 10, won nine individual events and participated on two team-record-setting relays. He notched new age group sectional qualifying times in the 200 IM (2:51.11)and the 200 free (2:31.49).

Rosen, 9, won eight individual events and qualified for the Western Zone Swim Meet this August in Fresno, Calif., with a 2:21.33 in the 200-yard freestyle. She also set a team record in the 500-yard freestyle (6:22.11).

Other individual event winners for NWAC were Kyle Ciminski, John Hu, Price Hu, Abby Leete, Julia Marriott, Marissa McDaniel, Yale Rosen, Amanda Streubel, Nick Streubel, Evan Wilson, and Aaron Wright.

Victorious Aquajet relays included the boys team-record-setting 10-and-under 200 medley (2:42.87) and free (2:20.07) teams of Weinstein, Nick Streubel, John Kaltenbach and Josh Jepsen; the girls 13-and-older 200 medley team of Carolyn Vasquez, Julia Marriott, Kerianne Wright, and Madison Shipley; and the boys 12-and-under 200 medley team of Jacob Jepsen, Brandon Vagt, Yale Rosen, and Caley Powers.

Notching new Pacific Northwest Swimming Championship qualifying times were Ciara Hu (400 im), Laura Rosen (50 breast), Cameron Spence (200 fly), Nick Streubel (100 back), and Kerianne Wright (200 im). Joining the Minute Club for breaking 60 seconds in the 100-yard fly and back was 14-year-old John Hu.
