Anonymous Coupeville statue cleaner remains a mystery

The members of the Coupeville Garden Club are still wondering who took time to clean a statue at Cook Corner Park located on North Main Street near the town’s historic downtown. Whoever cleaned the statue did a great job. Garden club members want to thank the good samaritan.

The members of the Coupeville Garden Club are still wondering who took time to clean a statue at Cook Corner Park located on North Main Street near the town’s historic downtown.

Whoever cleaned the statue did a great job. Garden club members want to thank the good samaritan.

“Somebody just wants to be private about it,” Coupeville Garden Club member Mary Dent said. “It’s either that or they’re still out of town.”

Several weeks ago, club members noticed somebody cleaned Randy, a bronze statue of a young boy pouring a bucket of water over his head.

Since water trickles out of the bucket and onto his head, hard water marks begin to accumulate and the statue occasionally needs cleaning.

She emphasized that the garden club wants to recognize the person for their work cleaning the statue.

If anyone has information about the identity of the statue cleaner, contact Dent at 360-678-7069.
