A 26-year-old Coupeville man is accused of threatening his ex-girlfriend and violating a no-contact order for the third time, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Brenten Mulroy in Island County Superior Court March 8 with two counts of harassment (threats to kill) and a felony count of violation of a no-contact, protection or restraining order. Violations of such a court order becomes a felony upon a third and subsequent conviction.

Mulroy pleaded guilty May 14. His bail was set at $50,000.

According to a report by Oak Harbor Police Officer Jennifer Porter, a 22-year-old woman reported that Mulroy had called her three times on Jan. 21, 2006. The woman had two no-contact orders against Mulroy that bar him from having any communication with her, including telephone calls.

The next day, the officer spoke to Mulroy over the phone. She told him he was under arrest and should turn himself in.

Instead, Mulroy called the woman again and threatened to kill two of her children, the report states. A couple of hours later, he called again and told her to “watch out” because “we’re coming for you,” Porter wrote.
