A call out for volunteers for expanded Haunted Fort

Sharon Sharpe, program specialist with Central Whidbey State Parks, already is contacting last year’s volunteers and is seeking more helpers for this year’s event, which will take place Oct. 28 and 29.

The Haunted Fort is getting creepier.

Organizers of last October’s inaugural event at Fort Casey State Park are moving the event away from Admiralty Head Lighthouse and over to the main fort to give guests a more chilling experience.

Sharon Sharpe, program specialist with Central Whidbey State Parks, already is contacting last year’s volunteers and is seeking more helpers for this year’s event, which will take place Oct. 28 and 29.

She also is seeking more volunteer docents to work in the interpretive area and gift shop in the lighthouse.

Those interested in volunteering may reach Sharpe at 360-678-1186 or sharon.sharpe@parks.wa.gov

The Haunted Fort was a huge hit last year, drawing more than 1,500 people over two days. The new centralized location also will be better for parking, Sharpe said.
