The Wildcats visited Seaside Saturday, Sept. 19, for their annual run in the Three-Course Challenge, and six individuals medaled as the girls placed fourth and the boys eighth in the 21-team Division I (large schools).

In all 123 teams and 2,173 runners spread over five divisions participated in the event.

Each school split its team among three race courses: easy, moderate and hard.

Miguel Guzman was the top finisher for Oak Harbor, placing fifth in the division in the boys moderate race. Tyler Grehan was sixth on the easy course, and Jake Hucko finished ninth on the hard course.

Among the girls, Carolynn Wicker was the top Wildcat, running eighth in the division on the hard course. Laura Rodeheffer (easy course) and Alexis Smith (moderate course) each placed 10th.

Oak Harbor, Stanwood and host Mount Vernon will run at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at Skagit Valley College.

Boys easy course, 4,500 meters, 405 runners: 21, Grehan, 16:08; 55, Benjamin Gasper, 17:31; 77, Joe Gorman, 18:05; 174, Scot Erickson, 19:46; 179, Joseph Ralston, 19:52.

Boys moderate course, 5,000 meters, 437 runners: 12, Guzman, 19:37; 130, Garrett Stahl, 23:11; 186, Cooper Treadwell, 24:01.

Boys hard course, 5,000 meters, 432 runners: 12, Hucko, 20:20; 49, Michael Lym, 22:01; 87, Caleb Peek, 22:46; 157, Nathan Larson, 24:11.

Girls easy course, 4,500 meters, 373 runners: 20, Rodeheffer, 20:11; 96, Natalie Merrill, 23:19; 141, Elyssa Nortier, 24:47; 151, Emma Wezeman, 25:04; 168, Breanna Grehan, 25:34.

Girls moderate course, 5,000 meters, 282 runners: 15, Smith, 23:31; 54, Olivia Flack, 25:43; 169, Alana Austin, 30:02.
