Boeing releases Community and Economic Benefits Report

Company’s wide-ranging influence includes employment, education, environment and charitable giving

For the third consecutive year, Boeing has released a comprehensive look at the extent of the company’s contributions to the people and communities in Washington state.

The Boeing in Washington 2017 Impact Report is intended to inform employees and community members about the significant role Boeing plays in improving communities throughout Washington.

“Boeing’s impact in Washington is not limited to producing our world-leading products and services,” said Bill McSherry, vice-president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes Government Operations. “Boeing is a key driver behind the 242,800 jobs in Washington supported by aerospace, and works to protect our environment, educate our students, support veterans and military families, and much more. The Impact Report gives us a great look at all the ways Boeing is improving the quality of life in Washington.”

The new report shows how Boeing’s investments in 2017 enhanced or enabled the work of its community partners and reinforced the company’s commitment to programs located in Washington.

Report Highlights:

• More than 54,000 students will engage in experiential education, STEM programs and career-connected learning activities via Boeing-supported programs

• Nearly 10,000 Boeing employees received education tuition in Washington from the Learning Together Program

• 8,800 students learned about stormwater management issues and green infrastructure solutions via Boeing-funded programs

• 2.6 million gallons of stormwater were conserved and protected by Boeing-funded projects in Washington

• The Employees Community Fund of Boeing (ECF) granted $6 million to local nonprofit agencies focused on hunger, housing, childcare and mental health
