The winners of a Coupeville gingerbread house contest were announced last week.
The annual competition, put on by the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association and hosted by the Coupeville Library and Friends of the Coupeville Library, always draws an exceptional array of edible holiday houses, and this year was no exception.
This year, the popular vote went to Emmy Carlson’s “Away in a Candy Manger.” Lara, Hayden and Adeline Maynes won the family/group division with “Christmas at Camp Half-Blood.” The youth contest was taken by Josiah Carrigan’s “The Fortress,” and Maggie Campbell won the adult division with “Mid-Century Modern.”
“It was a joy to witness and participate in the tradition of handing out gingerbread houses to local families with the Friends of the Coupeville Library in late November. We have enjoyed viewing the entries in the gingerbread contest hosted by the Coupeville Library. The ingenuity of the applicants was astounding! ” said Rainy Simpson, executive director of the Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association.
The winning gingerbread houses and all other contestants will be available for viewing at the Coupeville Library through Dec. 31.
