Whidbey’s Master Gardeners begin their clinics

The 2011 Island County Master Gardeners Plant Clinics have begun for the spring and summer for Central Whidbey and Oak Harbor. The Central Whidbey clinics will be held every Saturuday at the Coupeville Farmers Market from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. through September.

The Central Whidbey clinics will be held every Saturuday at the Coupeville Farmers Market from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. through September.

The Oak Harbor clinics are presently being held at Skagit Farmers Supply in Oak Harbor on Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. through May 14. Starting May 19 through August, the North Whidbey clinics will be held at the Oak Harbor Public Farmers Market, Thurdays, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., from May 19 through August. The South Whidbey clinics will open at the Bayview Farmers Market and South Whidbey Farmers Markets in early May.

Home gardeners can visit Master Gardener Plant Clinics to get free advise on home gardening needs.  To get the best dignosis possible, gardeners should bring a sample of the plant problem. Gardeners can also drop off samples at the WSU Extension Office at 101 N.E. Sixth St. in Coupeville, Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., or call 240-5527. A home horticulture call can be arranged if the problem cannot be identified by phone or a small sample.
