Whidbey General Hospital seeks interns

Whidbey General Hospital offers a student intern program to provide opportunities for youths in the community to learn about clinical health care careers and gain experience in those fields. These positions are eight weeks in duration from June 20 to Aug. 13.

Whidbey General Hospital offers a student intern program to provide opportunities for youths in the community to learn about clinical health care careers and gain experience in those fields. These positions are eight weeks in duration from June 20 to Aug. 13. The interns will be scheduled to work 32 hours each week. The rate of pay for the positions is $8.67 per hour.

Each intern will work in the department he or she selects, provided that department is willing to have an intern that year. The duties of the position may involve clerical tasks, stocking of supplies, patient transport, assisting hospital staff and other tasks as determined by the department. As is true for every WGH position, candidates must fill out Washington State Patrol Criminal History Information, Sanction List Disclosure, Fair Credit Reporting Act Disclosure, and Applicant Disclosure statements and, if selected, pass a drug screening test. Successful candidates must comply with the WGH dress code.

The letters must be completed by a school counselor or teacher and your health care setting or other volunteer mentor or work supervisor. In addition, please enclose a statement no longer than one typed page in which you name the department in which you’d like to work, why you are interested in this field and what benefits you hope to gain from this internship.
