Taste the Season: Wine tasting dinner June 30 at Frasers Gourmet Hideaway

This edition, the Crow’s Nest took a night out on the town. Word on the streets is the seasonal wine tasting dinners at Frasers Gourmet Hideaway are can’t-miss events, and hard to get into due to popularity. But OH Magazine secured a golden ticket to the June 30 event and the Crow’s Nest was more than happy to sit down to five courses of divine dining paired with five deliciously sippable wines.

Guest vinter for the evening was Don Townshend, owner and head winemaker for Townshend Cellar, which proudly claims on its Web site to produce “Distinctive Washington Wines.”

“It’s amazing when you get a good restaurant and cellar together,” Townsend said. “The wine and food just begin to flow together and compliment each other so well.”

Filling the seats for this exclusive night was a who’s who of Oak Harbor.

Builders sat next to bankers and retirees next to active business owners,

“It’s always a fun time,” Carol McMahon said. “The food is always good and these nights are fun because they walk you through each course.”

Frasers Gourmet Hideaway’s Scott Fraser shared the spotlight with Townshend, with both men taking turns chatting with the dining room about their respective dishes and wines.

“Scott has done a superb job of tasting the wines and creating a course that compliments not only the wine but the food itself,” Townshend said.
