An ART AND PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBIT featuring artist Pennie Janousek and photographer Zachary Billings will be on display at the Oak Harbor Library throughout August. The library is located at 1000 SE Regatta Dr. Call 360-675-5115 for details.

WHIDBEY PLAYHOUSE season tickets are now on sale. In September, the theater will present “Godspell,” a musical.

GARRY OAK GALLERY welcomes Shaun Marie Graham and Marie Thornton, two new artists whose work will be displayed throughout August. Graham is a jeweler, while Thornton is a painter. Grahham will attend the gallery from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Aug. 11. Thornton will attend the gallery from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Aug. 18. WHIDBEY ALLIED ARTISTS’ featured artist for August is photographer Bruce Williams-Burden. Williams-Burden undertakes documentary photography projects for government and nonprofit organizations. He also enjoys capturing images that are related to nature, wildlife, conservation, lifestyle and travel.

PATTY PICCO will have her encaustic paintings at Christopher’s Restaurant during the month of August. The process of encaustic painting includes layers of beeswax over paper and pictures.  You can also see her work at Penn Cove Gallery. penncovegallery.com

Northwest Watercolor Society (NWWS) announced that Randy Emmons of Oak Harbor has been chosen as one of the 86 artists selected for the 75TH ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL OPEN EXHIBITION that will be on display through Sept. 30 at the Washington State Convention Center, 800 Convention Place, Seattle. Emmons’ painting, “Life Is Good,” was chosen by internationally known juror Judy Morris out of more than 600 entries from seven countries and 24 states.

WHIDBEY EXPRESSIONS: Whidbey Artists to benefit the Pacific Northwest Art School in third annual event at the Coupeville Rec Hall. The three-day event will run from 4-7 p.m., Aug. 14 during which time Lisa Toomey will perform music and Whidbey artists will display their works. Blooms Winery will also be serving a selection of wines. On Saturday and Sunday, the show will continue though without musical accompaniment by Toomey. The artists showing this year are Patty Picco’s beautiful encaustics, Bev McQuary’s wonderful lampwork glass jewelry, Gary Schallock’s colorful watercolors, Pat Collin’s intriguing wood sculptures, Mark Lucero’s imaginative acrylic paintings, and Randy Emmons’ fun watercolors.
