I am writing in support of the Oak Harbor School District M & O Levy Propositions A and B.
As a former school board member, I know how hard it is to develop good public education programs. The Oak Harbor School District in many ways is a leader in the state in quality local public education. From our state champion football and cheer squads to our state champion culinary team, auto shop, metal shop, choral and music programs, our vocational and extra-curricular education is second to none in the state of Washington.
In regular education, I recently had the opportunity to address an assembly of over 200 students and their parents as they received their academic letters. There were so many recipients that Parker Hall was bursting at the seams in attendance and pride! Public education is healthy in Oak Harbor … let’s keep it that way.
A yes vote on Levy A retains the level of service our students have come to expect for over seven years. A yes vote on Levy B will improve our math and technology programs.
Make no mistake, this levy will positively effect students and student learning in Oak Harbor and produce a generation of young people work-ready for the 21st century.
