We would like to express our disappointment with the lighting of the Christmas tree downtown on Friday night. We have three small children who were excited about coming. We read in the newspaper that it would begin at 7:30. We arrived early and had just parked. As we were getting out of our car the tree lit up before 7:30. That was irritating enough. Then we thought we would maybe hear some carolers; no, they were gone too. Then we thought, “well, at least we can go in and do some shopping.” No, sorry, most stores were closed.

We were so excited to see Oak Harbor having these events and so disappointed by the poor coordination. This could be a wonderful event for our downtown and our city. We understand that mistakes happen. Please try to improve your planning and implementing. We hope to try again next year.
