Tired of Navy not upholding word | Letter

I’m getting a little tired of what the Navy says compared to their actions. In its 2005 environmental assessment, the Navy said touch and goes would be less in 2013. OK. The Navy predicted 3,060 touch and goes in 2013. Well, last year they did 4,834. That’s a 57.974 percent increase. At the rate it is going, 2013 will blow 2012 away.

Editor,

I’m getting a little tired of what the Navy says compared to their actions.

In its 2005 environmental assessment, the Navy said touch and goes would be less in 2013. OK.

The Navy predicted 3,060 touch and goes in 2013. Well, last year they did 4,834. That’s a 57.974 percent increase. At the rate it is going, 2013 will blow 2012 away.

So, Navy 0 — Hogwash 1.

It said there would be less total noise from the EA18G Growlers because of fewer flights, but as you can see, 3,060 flights to 4,834 flights.

So, Navy 0 — Hogwash 2.

Of course, the Navy said that the EA-18G was just plain quieter. My back yard is 2.146 miles from the touch part of the Outlying Field.

On a calibrated decibel meter, for a EA-6B I get 97 decibels. On an EA-18G, I get 117 decibels!

Navy 0 — Hogwash 3.

I’m going to go out on a limb here. I predict Hogwash No. 4 will be “If the Navy loses the use of Coupeville OLF, the Navy will be forced to close the air station.” More Hogwash.

Just you wait, that statement is coming soon.
