Thanks for day of prayer

On May 7, Island County joined with thousands of people across the USA to celebrate the 58th annual observance of the National Day of Prayer. Three events were held here on our beautiful island, a Youth Rally at the Roller Barn, a Community Prayer Rally on the steps of the courthouse in Coupeville, and a Family Rally in Greenbank.

As a committee, we would like to express our thanks and praise for the many who helped make these events possible. A special thanks goes to the Whidbey News-Times for the great publicity before the events and to Nathan Whalen for the follow-up article on the front page of the Saturday issue. Nathan was courteous and accurate in his reporting. We would also like to give special recognition to Burley Funeral Chapel who provided drinks, meat, buns, and all the condiments for the event in Greenbank. They did an outstanding job of cooking for and serving all who attended. Nichols Brothers Boat Builders of Freeland should be thanked as well for the use of their large barbeque and providing all the supplies for it. It has and continues to be a pleasure for this committee to work with and pray for the great people on Whidbey Island. Thanks again.
