Tear down that wall in Greenbank

Why is there a wall across Greenbank Road? It’s bad for business. It’s blocking a public road and a public beach.

Island County owns Greenbank Road and the beach access that goes with it. Pilings of the old pier, once the hub of commerce at Greenbank, are still there, and the area could someday be developed into a viable boating facility. It could be a hub of commerce once again.

Among other things, it would certainly help the Greenbank Farm.

As much as anyone, I want the farm to be a success and giving away adjacent beach access, which is the only public beach access in Greenbank, would be bad for business. It’s not just a valuable asset, it’s a priceless asset.

So please tell me why there is a wall across the road. I understand it was built by the adjacent private land owner and is blocking public beach access. He is claiming ownership, and nothing official is being done to stop him.

Why is that?
