In the last four or five weekly papers there have been articles about the city and state complaining about their operating cost for materials and how they may have to lay people off for lack of funds. The school board may have to double the levy to put back classes that were taken out, to have enough money to give the teachers a raise.

Also the fire district is hoping to get their levy passed to buy new equipment. On top of all this, we have the government’s $700 billion for the credit market and to cover bogus loans.

I see that the state has spent itself into a $3.2 billion hole. (I wonder how many Port Townsend, Keystone ferries that amount of money could have built?)

The only one that is left out of all these equations in the homeowners. The American dream is looking more like a nightmare. It would seem that all this spending was caused buy us; or at least it’s our fault for trying to live the American dream. We are going to have to pay for it with these phrases: “It’s only so much per thousand,” or “do it for the kids.”

The other question is, have our costs gone down? Gas, food, etc. Are we, the homeowners, the only ones that have to manage our budget, while all these other entities have no problem with the sky’s the limit?

I have no problem with supporting our government but with all these debts, government shows little or no sense in their budgets. How can anyone support this kind of lunacy? I can’t and should not have to.

Vote no on all levies and just maybe, we will be able to save a little of the dream!
