The senior prank is one of several unofficial traditions at Coupeville High. The Class of 2008 demonstrated some laudable ingenuity, teamwork and restraint in pranking at the new facility without physical harm or damage (Whidbey News-Times, June 4).

The illogical consequences meted out banned the 17 from receiving much deserved recognition at their Senior Awards ceremony, sports events and the all important Senior Assembly.

This gross overreaction speaks volumes about the person doling out this edict. I urge the community to prevent further spirit-crushing, for future graduates’ benefit, by speaking out and calling upon the school board to act.
