Editor,
Thank you to the Coupeville Library for hosting my book signing event.
Once again, this year’s “North Whidbey Community Harvest,” the free Thanksgiving dinner at the Elks Lodge, was a huge success thanks to the generosity of our community’s businesses, organizations and individuals who donated their time and money to support the event.
I work for a company that received a phone call from a man with a heavy East Indian accent indicating that he was “David Foster” and needed to speak to the owner (by name) of this company.
Let’s not be too hard on the “Mean Girls” when they lie, distort, omit or blow out of proportion.
A letter written by Richard Abraham had some information about Growler jet engine noise in flyovers and included some interesting numbers.
I would like to reply to Jimmy Sloan’s letter published in the Dec. 3 edition of the Whidbey News-Times.
Editor,
I just read your editorial characterizing Mayor Scott Dudley’s sortie to get new leadership for Island Transit as “inappropriate.” No, it’s inappropriate for Bob Clay to fail to right Island Transit and cast blame on State Auditor’s Office employees for his failures.
Ah, yes, the endangered spotted owl and his accomplice, the marbled murrelet. When you have no facts to back up your statements, let’s bring up an endangered species to get some attention.
The so-called “hush house” being touted by Congressman Rick Larsen and the Navy will not solve the Growler jet noise problem.
Regarding the Navy’s plans to conduct electronic war games over the Olympic Peninsula, the feds apparently are bowing to pressure to find no significant impact on anything — tourism, residents, endangered species; you name it, it’s A-OK.
What is up with Oak Harbor’s mayor, “Stump” Dudley? Is he trying to be the czar of the island?
On behalf of the residents and staff of Harbor Tower Village, I would like to extend a huge thank you to the emergency response team from the Oak Harbor Fire Department.
Editor,
Now that the November 2014 election results have been certified, I want to officially thank the voters of Island County for electing me to the office of Island County treasurer. I will do my best to maintain your trust and respect in this important office of our local government.
