The shock and disbelief of Marshall Bronson’s and John Carr’s action at the July 8 Port of Coupeville meeting has not worn off.
I want to express my most sincere appreciation for the numerous volunteers who made the 2015 Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival a success. The Coupeville Festival Association has promoted and hosted the annual Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival for 51 years. The CFA is a non-profit, all- volunteer organization consisting of 23 standing committees and 250 plus volunteers. There is no paid staff. All non-operational proceeds go into the Coupeville area in the form of project grants and scholarships. In December 2014, those annual grants and scholarships totaled $815,000.
Outgoing Port Commissioner Marshall Bronson’s column in The Examiner last week shed some light on why he unexpectedly decided to vote to terminate negotiations with Greenbank Farm’s long-time manager.
Not only does Planned Parenthood snuff out the lives of babies, but harvests their body parts with a calculating callousness of heart. For them it is a business and their way of contributing to medical advancement.
As a resident of Greenbank, Whidbey Island and Island County, as well as a taxpayer of Island County, I am concerned about the financial condition of our Port of Coupeville properties and their physical conditions.
It’s difficult for voters to decipher government from politics. Government acts in the best interest of the many, whereas politics plays favorites and is coated with deceiving confectionary lingo.
I see Sandra Kuykendall is upset with my letter concerning Island Transit. In the interest of not making this a he said/she said back and forth, I will make a quick rebuttal.
I have read with interest over the years the comments made by some during each election cycle regarding the “Good Ol’ Boy” club and how this organization would run our fair city if allowed to do so unchecked.
The Greenbank Farm, the Coupeville Wharf and the Deception Pass Bridge are the three most iconic places on Whidbey Island. Of these three, two — the Greenbank Farm and the Coupeville Wharf — are the responsibility of the Port of Coupeville.
Ah! Thank you, Port of Coupeville commissioners. Finally, you have shown your true nature: blatant tyranny, clear collusion and hit and run tactics.
Thank you for the Oak Harbor mayoral and Whidbey General Hospital commissioner candidate profiles that were published in the July 22 and July 25 editions of the Whidbey News-Times.
