This letter is in response to the accusations made by Mr. Jim Pace regarding my Sound Off commentary published in the March 30 Whidbey News-Times.
I encourage you to visit the Oak Harbor pool in person or online via Oakharborpool.com
We are writing in support of preservation and protection of the Garry Oaks in Oak Harbor and on Whidbey Island. This stately and iconic tree, our city’s namesake, is threatened by urbanization, development and loss of habitat.
The Garry Oak that got in the way. How did that happen? It’s not as if the tree crept malevolently into the sole unoccupied lot(s) in the Rose Hill subdivision. It’s been in that location just north of old War Memorial Stadium and Whidbey Avenue for years.
As I was reading Saturday morning’s newspaper, I was surprised to see the article about the Navy’s Search and Rescue airlift of the pregnant woman to Providence hospital in Everett on March 23.
Editor,
Please start attending Port of Coupeville meetings. Our port commissioners need our help. They need our support and encouragement. The next meeting is 10 a.m., Thursday, March 31 at the Coupeville Masonic Hall.
It is said that the most successful event is one that achieves your goals and exceeds your expectations. That is exactly what took place on Saturday, March 19 at the second annual Miss Oak Harbor Scholarship Pageant, when we crowned our 2016 Miss Oak Harbor and princesses as well as our first ever Teen Miss Oak Harbor and princesses.

If you have received some correspondence or statement from Whidbey General Hospital you will have noticed that name of the institution on the statement and mailing envelope is “Whidbey General Hospital and Clinics.”
It is with heartfelt gratitude on behalf of Coupeville students and teachers, that the Board of the Community Foundation for Coupeville Public Schools would like to thank the following businesses for their fundraising efforts during the 2015-16 school year.
It’s time to have a new name and logo to go along with the beautiful new building currently under construction.
I commented to a friend, “I’ve come to the conclusion that most people with power in government, business, medicine and religion think that the rest of us exist for the purpose of being exploited by them.”
This is an open letter to those who vandalized Oak Harbor Lutheran Church:
You asked us to pray for you. It was a surprising request, scrawled in spray paint amidst profanities and cryptic remarks.
