No Walmart on Camano

I choose to live on Camano Island because of its beauty and it is a place to get away from the rat race along the I-5 corridor. John Dean understands these qualities and actively works to preserve the quality of life we all enjoy so much.
In my opinion, Kelley Emerson is a newcomer to our island way of life. She doesn’t understand why people choose to live here and what it will take to preserve our way of life. In looking at her comments, she believes she is a financial wizard, that she can and will lower our taxes, and provide us with all the services that we expect and need from our county officials. Well, there’s only one other way to accomplish that and that is through sales tax revenue. That means changing zoning regulation to allow more businesses to be built on the island and to create that much revenue that means big businesses that generate big sales tax revenue. She scares me a lot because it will change our quality of life. You see, I would much rather go to the Walmart in Arlington rather than being able to shop at Walmart at Terry’s Corner.
