Look who’s behind Slowik

Will a mayoral candidate who stole the city logo be honest and forthright? The deadline for omitting the logo has come and gone. The signs still stand illegally set in city setbacks and in Coldwell Banker lots poised for development. A testament to what this man represents.

Mr. Slowik wants to give the chamber of commerce the power to decide where the city should go in the way of business because in his words they are the people paying most of the taxes? The current chamber director, at the request of certain council members, stood at a council meeting this year to present the results of a member survey. She would have us believe that the majority of members favored expansion of the city and the addition of big box retail. The report was not available for public viewing during the meeting. The public comment period was closed before anyone could question this report. I subsequently obtained the report. Only 32 out of 400-plus members had responded and of those only eight could be construed to reflect a pro-growth vote.

Chamber members, take notice of how you are being represented. I would be very wary of where Mr. Slowik places his allegiance; it is not with the majority of this community. Read his supporter list: developers, realtors and the current mayor, over $13,000 worth of support. Same old thing – money talks, you walk.

If you want honest government look to the man who has been your voice consistently for 12 years. Watch the recorded council meetings to see who has been voting for the greater community. The same man who has been checking to see if people have received public notice for rezones. The same man that asks the questions they try to shush him for, the man who gets emotional about your rights. The only candidate who had his signs made here to support local business. The same man who took no contributions from private interest groups, beholding only to you, the people. I put my trust in Paul Brewer.
