I am responding to the letter to the editor from Pete Sill about the bunnies. I believe the loss of a family pet is news and reminds us how important our local community is to all of us.
I have been a subscriber to the News-Times for quite a few years. I don’t subscribe to get the world news. I subscribe to get the local events. I enjoy reading about the bovine interlopers south of the drive-in escaping and moreover, how they were wrangled back in. I like the fact that the scanner tells the story of power lines down – not a person down, or the extent of graffiti is the toilet papering of a house – not the burglary of one.
The local paper gives me information that effects me today. It keeps me up to date on what is happening here, not in New York, not in Los Angeles, but here, less than 10 miles or 20 miles from my home. I like that. It reminds me why I love to live here.
I ask only this: please keep reporting the local happenings. When I want to go back into the harsh realities of the big world, it is my choice, not my local paper’s. I appreciate that.
