Letter: Writer missed point of letter

Editor,

This is in response to Mr. Bond’s May 22 letter. If he had taken the time to actually read and understand my letter, he would not have overlooked the whole which was to say, “Don’t Blue Lives Matter, Too?” No, he was too busy with his own misdirected agenda and name calling.

Murders of police officers rose by nearly 60% during 2021, amid a wider rise in violent crime across the US, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray. In an interview with “60 Minutes,” Mr. Wray said 73 officers were killed in the line of duty last year. The trend of police officers killed in the line of duty is not decreasing in 2022; 55 more than unarmed black men being killed in 2021.

And saying that a police officer gets a “paid vacation” for killing someone is absolutely disgusting as is saying that a “police officer’s job is not at the top of high risk jobs.” That comment is disgusting at best and he should be ashamed of himself.

Since Mr. Bond cannot bring himself to say that Blue Lives Matter, I’ll do it for him. They do matter. Every day.
