Letter: We’ll survive pandemic in spite of lack of leadership

Editor,

The Trump administration failed this country with its mismanagement and political corruption.

Besides disbanding the National Security Council’s federal pandemic office last year, putting us back to square one or letting maintenance contracts of Pentagon ventilators lapse, so now they no longer work, or allowing millions of masks to be exported overseas when they are badly needed here, in our country.

Trump’s denial and delay of this pandemic has proven deadly. Where is the national response? Where is the national leadership?

If Trump does not know what to do, why not appoint a czar or, better yet, a general who could oversee and direct the national supply chain? That way, one person would know what the right hand and left hand are doing, and ensure the desperately needed supplies are going to where they are needed, not sent willy nilly to the states Trump “likes,” or to those that flatter him.

We will survive the crises in spite of Trump, not because of him.
