Letter: Warren the best option to unite the country

Editor,

I was recently “phone banking” for presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren. It was for the most part a pleasant experience. Most of those called were courteous.

I was struck, however, with the palpable fear among many voters that they must select a candidate who can beat Trump. Therein lay their quandary. They felt that they must divine which candidate will receive the most votes from the electorate in the general election.

I tried to ease their minds and encourage them to vote for the candidate who most closely follows their own views. I explained that in the most recent polls all the leading Democrats beat Trump by several percentage points, more than even Hillary Clinton.

More importantly, they all beat Trump in those “battleground” states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

So, rest easy, vote for a candidate who can best unite us and bring the United States of America back to its ideals.

That candidate is Elizabeth Warren.
