Letter: Veterans, not pot, should have been on front

Editor,

I suspect that this letter will not be published as it is critical of the Whidbey News-Times and its staff.

I find your placement of the article in the Wed. Nov 16 article, “Residents prefer their pot legal” was offensive and disrespectful to our veterans to whom we all owe so much. That featured a picture of a cannabis bartender and was featured on the front page no less while an article on Veterans Day was wound up on page two. You as the editor and the writer Rachel Rosen should be ashamed of this slap in the face of every vet as I am one. Poor judgement all around.

Editor’s note: The Whidbey News-Times and South Whidbey Record ran two front page preview stories about Veterans Day prior to the event, published an entire special section about Veterans Day supported by many businesses in the community and ran an editorial about Veterans Day. Like most newspapers, we do not focus on after-the-fact event coverage.
