Letter: Trump thought he might lose reelection bid

Editor,

Why I think former President Trump thought he might lose re-election early on. but did not plan to leave office:

Clue 1: When asked why he was forming a reelection committee in 2017, Trump said because he might be president for eight or 12 years. We have a two-term limit.

Clue 2: In the first quarter of 2020, Trump tweeted that the election was rigged. His opposition was not yet selected.

Clue 3: At the first presidential debate, the candidates were asked if they would support a smooth transition if they lost. Trump said that he’d have to think about it.

Clue 4: In August/September 2020, Trump said, “If I win, it’s a fair election. If I lose, it’s rigged.” That sounds awfully like “heads I win; tails you lose.” I learned in sixth grade that that offer was suspect.

Clue 5: Over 60 court cases plus the Supreme Court ruled that the election was fair.

Clue 6: Republicans did very well on local, state and congressional offices. Only the presidential vote was rigged?

Clue 7: Jan. 6, 2021, a mob was incited to stop the congressional certification of the election. This was his last chance to stop the legal transfer of power.

I’m sorry, sir, but you lost. Enough is enough.
