Letter: Taxpayer money shouldn’t be spent on derelict boats

The problem with your article on the derelict boat is the complete lack of responsibility on the part of the owner, Mr. Elm.

It was his boat and he should be held responsible for its removal and subsequent disposal.

It infuriates me that derelict vessels that belonged to someone can simply be cast adrift for the rest of us to bear the financial responsibility of disposal.

This mentality is nonsense.

I would suggest that the Port of Coupeville hold Mr. Elm’s feet to the fire. Why should our tax money be used for this expense?
