Letter: President is failing to uphold U.S. Constitution

Editor,

Trump’s latest abrogation of his oath to uphold and defend the U.S. Constitution includes sending in “secret federal police” to Portland, Ore. to arrest those who have assembled peacefully to seek redress of grievances against their government.

These secret police are dressed in military fatigues and they do not follow due process procedures.

The right to peacefully assemble is as important to a democratic society as is the right to free speech.

Hats off to the “Wall of Mothers” who have nightly placed themselves between the secret police and the protesters.

From challenging Barack Obama’s birth certificate to asking the White House counsel to write a fake letter, from locking brown kids in cages to extorting the president of Ukraine, from pardoning convicted felons to advising people to drink Lysol, from turning your back on the Kurds to ignoring Russian bounties on U.S. troops, from ignoring and mismanaging the greatest pandemic in modern history to embracing the Confederate flag, from the day you took office until the day you’re sent packing, here’s a certain gesture offered in response to your actions.
