Letter: Parents need to take responsibility and not blame NRA


Kudos to Byron Dieckman on his letter to the editor in the Nov. 23 Whidbey News-Times. I agree with him 100 percent. School gun violence should not and can not be attributed to the NRA and responsible gun owners.

I agree that gun violence does stem from the “death and violence in movies, games, music and television” and where are the “parents who cannot and will not parent, but leave it to the theaters, TVs, computers, police, schools, music and other social media to educate and form life values for their children?”

Mr. Dieckman, very well stated. The parents need to take responsibility and not attribute emerging violence to the NRA and other responsible gun owners and other organizations.

The emerging violent trends have to do with family values or lack thereof and all the exposure via social media, etc.

P.S. I also agree with Greg Banks’ Sound Off on the same page, “Hopefully nation has a reason to be thankful someday.”
