I would like to express a few thoughts about the proposed Growler expansion on Whidbey Island. In 1999, Marine Air Station Irvine, Calif., moved to Yuma, Ariz.
This was due to increased settlement and urbanization in the area around the base. Marine Corps AS Yuma has access to more than one million acres of aviation training ranges.
The Third Amendment of the U.S. Bill of Rights states, “No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”
In my opinion, if the Founding Fathers had known about Growlers, they would have included the term “airplanes” in the amendment.
According to the Navy League there are 10,000 personnel at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island.
How many do you suppose are working on Growlers ?
If the Growlers are relocated, the Naval Base will not close.
It will continue its vital work on many fronts.
