Letter: Memorial Service was well done, honored the heroes

Editor,

Well done. My wife, daughter and I attended the Memorial Day service organized by Kelly Davidson and it was an absolutely beautiful and moving tribute to our fallen heroes.

It certainly deserves a BRAVO ZULU — Navy speak for, “well done.”

The addresses by Capt. Matthew Arny, NAS Whidbey’s commanding officer, and Lt. Cmdr. Peter Hunt USN (ret), were emotional and inspirational. What many may have not seen was a beautiful bald eagle circling overhead as they spoke.

Also, thanks to all those who helped Kelly make this a very special ceremony. What an impressive end to the event to see the helicopter flying by with yet another hero, one carrying our flag.

We did, however, find it disappointing that there were very few young people in attendance save for the ROTC members, flag bearers and choral group who were important parts of the ceremony.
