I am writing in response to Luie Ferrer of Coupeville, who recently wrote a letter to the editor about litter bugs who are leaving beer cans in hard-to-reach areas of the “prairies wayside” on Engle Road, just outside of Coupeville.

I am the host of a Detroit-based podcast called “Blue Men Group,” and we recently came across this letter to the editor and read it to our listeners. We are very interested in sending a simple outdoor recycling bin to Luie Ferrer to place in the area where the beer cans are being littered.

We were moved by Ferrer’s voluntary service keeping the area clean and tidy. Although we’ve never visited Whidbey Island or Coupeville, we want to help — as lovers of nature, and beer.
