Will we, the people, ever be Americans again?

Why do we have to be Republicans or Democrats; blacks, whites, or Asians; conservatives or liberals; slant eyed, round eyed, beady eyed, squint eyed, blue eyed, green eyed, or black eyed?

We don’t want war, but the last time I remember us all being united was when WWII was raging.

What happened to us?
